So whats the verdict on the chipping then? is the reason the chip didnt work in the ph2 ECU that the chip used in the 2 different ecus are physically different, or is it just the the information burnt on the chip that is incompatible with the newer ECU's? since the chip in the later ECU (i have a spare which is the same as the one depicted in this thread) is just an eprom containing 32kbytes of info, and if the chip for the old ECU also is, it should be possible to dump the contents of the 2 and figure out whats going on.. |

The reason for the original failure is the paticular revision of ECU i had on GYP (C), has the immobliser and alarm circuits combined with the engine management system.
All other revisions kept them seperate and renault went back to keeping them seperate on revision D |

R.I.P. GYP
well i spent today finishing off striipping GYP before its gets scrapped
everything out now except the engine and gearbox, they are coming out next weekend, the black plastic bags covering the windows are because Neal was round a couple of weeks ago on a scavanging mission lol
He had the sunroof, drivers door glass, passenger door glass and electric window mechanisim
once the engine and box are out, all that remains is get the scrap lorry booked, get the car into the street and out with the steering column and PAS rack

Had to move my chammy today from the works car park, they took delivery of some new vans so needed the space, the car is now at Nans, Thanks NAN!
gave me an excuse to get some fresh pics of it anyway
Taken on my Motorola V3 so not brilliant but not the worst either!
The only rust on the car (must see to that very very soon before it goes like GYP did)
and the seats are almost mint too
