looking very nice mate.
Have you painted over the little plastic inserts on the bumper? How does that look?
What grade did you rub it down to prior to painting?
Did you use primer or just new top coat straight over the top of the old?
how many coats?
What type of paint did you use?
How many clear coats?
Soz for all the questions, but I am nearly at the stage where i am going to paint mine...first time for me. |

Have you painted over the little plastic inserts on the bumper? How does that look? at the moment it looks good, i'll post pics in daylight for you.
What grade did you rub it down to prior to painting? started off with 320, then for the bumpers, use 800 wet and dry with a bucket of water, same with the edges.
Did you use primer or just new top coat straight over the top of the old? we mixed black tinter into the primer, with some metallic flake to use it as a base coat, the style of painting, was wet on wet, so as soon as you have sprayed the primer, you go straight onto base coat, then lacquer.
how many coats? the main parts have to be covered, so as many coats as it takes to cover the filler, and where its back to bare metal are your main areas, otherwise, 2 wet coats all over of the primer
What type of paint did you use? Base coat, so with base coat your not going for a shine, as the lacquer does that. if youve never sprayed before, especially metallic, its best left to a pro, as the metallic flakes show your lines that you have sprayed, and shows up alot.
How many clear coats? I used about 2 litres of clear coat, just so it has alot more protection from stonechips etc etc.
Soz for all the questions, but I am nearly at the stage where i am going to paint mine...first time for me No worries bud! |

2 coats? cheap job then.
I mind doing a triumph herald, 10 coats.
Shine that was super deep, zero orange peel or FLA
Shouldn't have used metallic either.
5-10 coats of piano black, el minto! |

the sprayer took the rubber trims off, the rear lights were easy to take off, being only 2 nuts, the fronts were harder, and didnt obstruct any bodywork as the rears did.
i got some other picturs off me phone yet again, i'll try and borrow my mums digi camera, and take pics tomorrow.
Its so metallic in the sun, almost a mirrorflake effect, well pleased, £37.01 well spent |
