The other thing I just noticed is that after cranking you do get a bit of a wiff of fuel as you get out and walk towards the rear of the car, tanks definately not leaking or anything though. |

Just tried it, same result as before. I'll try putting a bit more fuel in there but I've put in about a gallon already. Anything else to try? |

I'll do that, but then what - can you test it in some way when it's out? |

righty.
theres 3 pipe son it, 1 is a breather the other 2 have red and green dabs of paint on them, these are the fuel pipes.
The green one is the feed. undo it and blow through it, be prepared there will be fuel there, it should blow relaitvely easily, If it doesn't then theres a blockage.
Note make sure the pipe is off at the injetcor rail!
if it is blocked, undo the pipe at the fuel filter, should blow easily.
Then putp th epipe bakc ont eh fuilter then undo the pipe on the other side of the filter, in fact bugger that just change the camn filter.
blow on the pipe on the outlet side of the filter and if there is a blockage it should be there if not it was in the filter.
if it is that pip make sure you habve not jackedon it etc.
If the pipe blows free at the tank then the ptoblem is int he tank, take the pump opiut, with luck the pipe will have just popped off the pump or the soutlet stub, put it back on with jubilee clips. |

I just tried blowing through the pipe and it went fine and there were no blockages - a wee bit of petrol that had been in the pipe came out the other end. Now I'm going to have to remove the pump and check the pipe you mentioned - but I've one question. How do you actually remove the pump?

In the above pic I took do you unscrew the bit which has the ridges on it? I'm guessing so but it wasn't moving with a little force and I didn't want to force anything. |

Jesus these things are tight!!! I've just spent the last 15 minutes or so trying to move the thing with a hammer and a file (blunt at the end) and it's just not budging one bit. All it's done is damage a couple of the wee tabs. |

ok, I got it out and that wee pipe is still connected so thats not the problem. Does this mean I'm going to be needing a new fuel pump? Also, should the wee tub type thing the pump sits in in the tank have quite a bit of petrol in the bottom of it? the reason I ask is that it doesn't really have much in the bottom apart from a few mm. |

infact our problem with be the aux tank lift pump not working, you will need to put a few gallons in it to get fuel into the main tank |

posted that before your last post. If the aux tank lift pump is the problem how can it be sorted, other than a temp fix of putting in extra petrol. |

the aux tank lift pump should come on when the petrol light comes on, if it dioesn't then it may have been removed or just buggered.
A lot are removed as they do leak. Its crap.
TBH best mod is non 16V filler neck and bin the 16V aux tank. |

Never has an engine sounded so sweet, lol. She's running!!! I worked out I had already put in about 6 or 7 litres and shw wouldn't start so I filled the jerry can and put in another gallon or so and after turning here over a few times she started. Only had her running for a couple of minutes though.
When I had her runnign though the oil pressure was showing just a tad over 4bar at cold idle which is about 1 and a bit bar higher than when I last had the car running, should I be worried about this or just put it down to the new oil and filter?
This afternoon I'm going to bleed the cooling sytem properly then let the car warm up and hope to god it doesn't start leaking coolant again. If it seems OK I'll take her out for a spin and see whats what. |
