got this sony dsc-p72 cyber shot camera of my friend with the usb plug and all but cant transfer the photos into the pc,yes i have been to sony s website to download the software but there is not a photo editing program that allows you to transfer the photos .my friend had the xp and she never needed to download any drivers for the camera but my pc has the millenium edition and the pc dont recognise the camera .
any ideas ? |

get an xp!!! sorry jon some ferkin neighbour grassed me up and the councill came over to cut the money tree in my garden mate ,so i am a bit broke these days .
there is a driver for m.e in the site but i got no clue how to get the photos of the cam to the pc after downloading the drivers .withmy other cam i had a cd thatsgot some photo programs that lets you choose to acquire photos from the cam to pc. |

if you install the driver and plug in the cam on USB, it should just make it a drive in my computer so you can just browse the files on the cam and copy them off just like you would any other drive.
least thats how the cams ive used work |

If its a digital camera, Windows ME 'should' find it as a removable drive. TWAIN is predominantly for scanners.....not cameras. |

i downloaded the program on the top of that page jon ,i suppose i have to load that twain thingy program too.

eh? no there should be only one prgram called ifranview.
its the link to the side that says Download here...
once u got it plug ur camera in and opent he [program and go File>Select twain then hopefully it should dhow up in the list.
then go file acquire ....it may or may not work. |

The OS needs to know that the camera is there before that Ifranview program will work. |

i got the millenium edtn running .i got roxio phot suite and photo impression as well .
the problem is sorted now,cheers guys all i had to load was the sonytwain.exe from sonys website

Worth upgrading to XP though if your machine can handle it, about 50 -60 quid for OEM Home from Ebuyer i think. |

or of course find someone who has a copy but of course i am not recommnding you do that |
