right, i've got a couple of problems with my manual gearbox on my laguna 1.8 rn 1997 model and they may be related but i've no idea what the cause is.
problem 1/ there's a lot of movement in the gear stick when i accelorate or engage gear. this has been happening for a while but didn't seem to cause any other problems.
problem 2/ all of a sudden it has now started jumping out of second gear. not all the time but more than enough to worry bout.
if you've any ideas could you post them here please. thanks. |

i can just state that those are common problems with those gearboxes, and p.s. - those are some shitty boxes Renault put out, get one from 19 turbo diesel... |

personalyl i'd live with it. Its a common problem, a load of boxes were made missing a washer, there was a rtecall but some slipped through.
Check the oil level on the box, if its low then this problem is worse. |

oil level is way to low, when 5th goes box is pretty much dead unless caught very quickly.
on the front of the box theres a wing nut, unscrew it, oil should be up to the tread level, it should dribble out slightly. |
