how hard is it to change, and would it be better to change both mounts at the same time |

depends on what you class as hard and how buggered it is.
sometimes they come apart easy, other times you need to get new everything. |

getting the strut out will be easy. it the mount and is it worth changing anything else when the strut is out and should i do the other side. |

never said it won;t come out easy, i said they won;t come apart. I have gad to drill through a few damper pistons to get good top mounts.
Might as well do both.
do the bearings as well.
Theres also a chance the upper spring cups will be corroded and need replaced as well. |

top mounts are pretty expensive OEM, dunno what you can get them for aftermarket in the UK.. i've taken a few struts apart, never had any issues..used an "air propelled wrench" (dont know what they're called in english) to get the damper nut off, works a charm...
chris, if the thing's so corroded it needs drilling out, won't the mount be in such a bad shape, it isn't useable anyway? |

top mounts survive pretty well as a lot have been changed, the dampers on the other hand don't.
A very common issue with them now is the lower spring seat, most are holed pretty badly and ready to collapse. |
