Doesn't really answer your question but on my 1.8rt the standard exhaust is one which turns down at the end behind the bumper (so you can't see it from the rear) so the bumper has no cut out for the exhaust to stick through - this was a potential problem I thought of when thinking of an uprated exhaust, so would either need a new bumper or cut a hole yourself.
Or maybe yours isn't like this! |

cutting the bumper is no big deal... done it to mine for the twin DTM scorpion (or rather, the previous owner had done it already but made a right arse of it...so i did it properly) |

i have the same standart exhaust red19rt ,yes it turns down in the end bit but the bumper has a little cut ,dont know its been cut by previous owners for some reason .but i checked the bumper its very thin plastic you can cut with jigsaw or similar easily .
i am still wondering what difference would that backbox make ??? any gains in power ,acceleration ,fuel consumption ? |

i dont think that pipe would look right on a renault to be honest, theyre for hondas and toyotas... jap cars basically.
also see them on Novas, Corsas and Fiestas...you dont want to be associated with them do you? |

the alternative is whatever you can get hold of tbh... aftermarket parts for Renault 19s are not exactly in abundance these days. they do come up on ebay from time to time though.
a favourite seems to be the twin DTM (upswept) tailpipes like i have on mine. A bit neddy if it sticks out a long way and is obvious but mine doesnt stick out past the cut out on the bumper. |

i think you know what im trying to say Huw...
Schakal it was on the car when i got it. I think any gains from whatever exhaust system you put on will be minimal, as the flow restriction is tiny compared to the brick wall that is the cat. |

a back box will change the noise, as for power etc no difference from a back box alone unless the old one has collapsed internally or otherwise damaged. |
