ihi everyone, first post!

i just bought a renault 19 which is due its test (it was cheap) and after a test drive it has become apparent that i will need to replace either one or all of the wishbone bushes and antiroll bar bushes on the drivers side front.

is there anywhere on the web where i can get these bushes, and i dont mean the new polyeurathane ones, just plain rubber ones?

cheers
paul

pressing the old bushes out of a wishbone and pressing new bushes (if you can get them) back in would be an arse of a job.

however i have a pair of brand new wishbones for sale if you want them... Wink

The only ones you'll be able to buy on the net will be Powerflex ones I should imagine.

Although it's generally accepted that OE bushes are the best.

got a workshop bush pusher/puller in my shed, its dead easy with a bit of grease. if the old ones wont budge ill burn them out with a torch. paid pennies for the car so looking to do them for as cheaply as possible so i can make the most profit from selling it on, so unless you want less than £15 for them ill pass :)

i might just go to the motor factors down the road, was just wondering if there were any cheap places online.

i just got it tonight, its off my neighbour whos in the navy. hes getting shipped to iraq and was going to scrap it. its still got tax and test, four new tyres 6 month ago and a new exhaust.

the passenger side is banging about over bumps like the bushes have gone. where the new backbox has been fitted the join has not been sealed properly and is blowing. thats it.

rest of the car is immaculate.

ive changed bushes on a glued in mk3 cortina, with the right tools for the right job its easy.

fair dos

being honest though, i dont think you will find bushes on their own, except from renault, part number

77 00 840 741 BUSH S/ARM LHF 19 19.31

that price is out of date though, they will be over £20 now, plus the VAT

you will probably have to buy the whole arm with the bushes in, but they are only about £25 from the factor.

Or you could of course get down the scrappy, ones from a mk1 megane are the same (not a megane coupe though)

hope that helps

shame I chucked away all those non 16V parts.

you'll get the bushes alone at any factors, but the knock could be anything. the lower balljoints a common issue

cheers for the part number, i might pay a visit to the scrappy too. it would be less time consuming to fit a new lower arm like :)

how easy is the balljoint to repair? i presume once youve got the lower arm off it reveals itself and its simple to remove?

will i be able to blatantly tell which bush has gone once i get the wheel off?

if it is a bush leave it on the groudn and grab the wheel roll it back and forth, if its a bush it will move.

balljoints eastm take the wheel off and its the thing the hub pivots on at the bottom.

Use a lever to see if theres play, if theres any its to much.

might even have the pinch bolt mising thats a common one.
