I got the spring clip and washers of, but i cant get the pedal of the shaft, past the steering column! any ideas, as i dont want to have to remove the steering column!
Cheers

I use a 1/4 inch drive deep socket, makes it so much easier, I struggled for long enough pinchign it with my fingers and sliding it on, the socket goes on then shove the pivot bar back through pushing the socket out. |

i just changed mine, didnt slide the shaft at all, just released the nut for the clutch-side support bracket at the floor end and tilted it over, then the pedal could slide right off the shaft.. and so i didnt play around with the brake pedal side... |

God, is it just me or what!???!!
Right iv got the pedal back on, but now i have another problem, once iv connect the cable back up, the cable is very very tight, i depress the pedal a few times to get the self adjusting mechanism working only for the cable to pull itself out of the end retainer!! what am i doing wrong? have i missed something, should the cable be this tight, meaning the self adjusting quadrant is right at the top!! |

are you sure you have threaded the cable exactly as it was? any kink or change in layout might make it tight |

@neal: indeed.. thought they were the same, though..
@jimmy: this may seem stupid, but did you try releasing the self-tensioner before pressing the pedal? if it's in the tightest position already, it won't adjust itself (i think). |
