ELECTRIC WINDOW RATTLING

i have a 3mm of a gap while trying to shut the driver side window ,it wont go any further and will start to rattle . i turn the ignition off and can pull the window up manually and shut. whats the problem here then ?

Try taking the door trim off matey nice and easy do's it and give the window drive cable a good freeing off with Wd-4- , I think this is seized but I stand corrected if I am wrong Smile

window drive cable ? is that the spiral thingy that revolves inside the metal rail by the help of the electric motor ?where can it get stuck to ???? and if thats the case i might as well take the whole lot out and have a look (elec motor and that metal rail is connected to eachother ).i have changed the passenger side elec.motor succesfully before ,i might be able to sort it out too if thats the case

try oiling it up but make sure that clips seated right on the back of the window

are you on about the metal clip attached to the window on the back ? yes thats in place(going through rubber rails) so my problem is the window drive cable and needs lubricating . can i do it without taking the whole thing out like spraying wd40 from the rail ?

had enough of the rattle and took the whole window and the motor out ,what i found was shocking .that spiral metal was ferked at the end bit not allowing the window go any higher and makes the motor rattle too.
i got it out of the rail to have a better look ,here is the pic

the most annoying thing is that the bloody motor and all the rest is working perfect ,but for this little piece of broken spiral i will have to change the whole lot i am afraid.is it possible to get the spiral out and put another one of non leccy window one?

should be able to get another spiral from another car, get a 3 doors as its longer so you shoudl have some spare so you can trim it to size.

how am i going to get the spiral out with out damaging the bit the motor contacts the spiral ,just pull it out ,yes?

try and chop the damaged section off then operate the motor so it winds itself out, basically putting the window up till it pops out. Feed the new in then wind it down to get it back in.

i had one of those from the passenger side with non working motor and i did not keep the ferker .could have used that one probably .oh may be not ,the plastic window holder bit is on the wrong side

been to the scrappy today after work to look for the spiral thingy( drive cable) the mechanic guy over there said i cant swap them from another cars ,so i have to get the whole system with the motor and all.
nah ,i will deffo give it a go ,i dont have much to loose now ,its just a case of finding a donor driver side door at the mo. will elt you know how it goes.
