I presume they are exactly the same?
Talking about a 19 16v BTW
My needles have always been a bit 'out' tried adjusting them but still not quite right. Thinking about just buying a new clock set off ebay.
Without sounding dodgy, is it easy to adjust the mileage from the new unit to match my car? (My phase 1 has only done 67K from new!)
Also is it just a straight swap?

Cheers, I think the white looks a bit better anyway.
Any ideas about mileage adustment? I would imagine there is some kind of anti-tamper measure? |

I doubt it - on new cars with computer odometers its even easier, if you have the computer to do it. You might not be able to turn back the mechanical ones, but you can always stick an electric drill on the end and spin it right round to a million miles and back round to the right number
As far as I know the 16v has a mechanical odo, and so it should be easy enough with the dash out.
The fact that 'adjusting' the mileage has always been relatively easy (if you are determined enough to remove the dash) is why getting a mileage check done, and checking service records etc for mileages, on a car you are buying is always a good idea, unless its a real heap
I think I'm right about this, but I've never done it so there could be something I'm missing - this is just going on what I've read in various places, so don't take it as gospel.
Cheers

if its was the 1.4's etc it woudl be piss easy, pop the barrel out and stick it in the new clocks. On ther 16v's they used crimped metal to hold the barrel in so its drill time.
Why don't you adjust the speedo properly? The new colcks will prob be out as well.
The needle when at rest should sit at 5mph. |
