Hi all. Right here goes:
Ive got a 1992 Clio 16v. I changed the alternator a few months back for a new one after the old one buggered up, alls been fine till recently,
The battery light started coming on when the car was in gear and driving ie over 2000rpm, but went out when it was idling, also when the gar was in gear the lights became brighter (headlights+dashlights), heaters got faster and wipers would go faster, but when idling all was normal.
Now the battery light is on permanently and only sometimes do the lights etc get brighter/faster. Ive also noticed today a whistling sort of noise coming from the engine which speeds up as the engine speeds up!
Im going to attempt to tighten the alternator belt on sun as its a bit slack, does any one else have any suggestions as to what it could be?

yeah i wud have said, chk the belt first off....as mayb eit is slippin when engine speed increases....then gets a grip when u idle. |

get a voltmeter on the terminals and see whats happening.
But check the belt tension, they can be awkward. |
