yeah but if your fuel economy is getting worse, then something is up with the car.

You telling me that if your car was doing 5mpg you wouldnt want to find out why and sort it out?

weird cars these are .my 1.8 rt does not have a trip comp. obviously but i would not trust a trip computer anyway ,the fuel gauge is the best but still not too reliable,
i fill the tank to the top with 46 litres of fuel ,which means i allready had 9 liters in there (as the tank is 55litres) after the first 50-60 miles the gauge drops to 3/4 ,after the next 80 miles it drops down to 1/2 140-150 miles with half tank ???? no it does not work that way ,you have to take the whole tank in consideration .that 1/2 tank of fuel left takes me about 200-220 miles before i see the light flashing which i still believe means i have at least 5 litres of fuel in tank when it starts flashing constantly .
so why dont you work your way like that and find out how many miles you really are getting with the amount of fuel you have .
plus you will be burning more fuel per mile in this weather as the engine needs heat .
i would not just rely on the trip comp if i was you

Right, just taken it for a spin, reset the trip while on the move. Went up to Aberystwyth , round town for 5-10 minutes (bout 2 miles at most) and then back, 26-7 miles at most and it used 1.1 gallons, so thats about 24mpg? (seems a bit low seeing at least 30% of it was coasting)
Most of that was driving carefully, with the occasional rag, mostly round town. Can I assume this will eventually go up as the car is used more, or is that about right?

Cheers
