Hi newbie here
Does anyone here who can enlightened me whether a Clio 1.4 16v can be turbo-charged?
If so, after installing the turbo.. what else do i really need to upgrade in terms of engine parts like say headers, pistons & etc..
Lived in Singapore
Thanks for any info contributed |

Yes it can be done.
Depnding on what you want power wise then a stock manifold with a turbo fitted and modest boost and a decenbt remap will yield power but there will be no need to reduce the compresion ratio.
if you want lots of power then tbh I would get a bigger engine in it. As it would start costing big money for the 1.2 lump and its really not worth it.
the 1.2 16V head is poorly cast nd thus it responds well to headwork which is a gain thats there all the time, no need to wait for boost etc. |

thanks alot! however im dont really know engine in details.
when you mentioned 'a stock manifold w/- a turbo fitted' means i just fit in a turbo? In Singapore i heard there's small turbo and normal sized turbos. Which shall i fit in? modest boost means?
Do i need to install any unichip or superchip also?
Will the pistons get damaged? And im running on a 1.4clio so not sure cuz' in Singapore there's no 1.2clio.
sorry alot of qtns |

yes a turbo fitted onto the standard exhaust manifold instead of gettign a bespoke one made. Much like the turbo conversions for citroen saxos/pug 106's.
Small turbo as its a small engine, you want response not lag and no power.
I meant 1.4 not 1.2 sorry.
The pistons etc will not be damaged as long as you don't run the boost to high or run the engine to lean.
Yes you will need to re-map the ECU, unichip or superchip wouldn;t be my 1st choice but I would choose unichip over the superchip. |
