Anybody know the standard torque output on these, and how well they might respond to tuning?
I know they're not as advanced as modern diesel units like VAG diesels but I know ECU/Chipping does wonders for them. I've also heard about the 'Van Aaken' procedure which supposedly is the prize-winning recipe in diesel tuning, so if anyone knows enough to elaborate on what in involves, then that would be great.
Cheers in advance,
Ben |

Any diesel will respond well to tuning.
You can make NA 1.7 astra diesels chuck out nearly 300 bhp, engine life is measured in minutes though.
Yopu can't chip the ren diesels old gen as they have no chips.
the Van Aaken means turn up the boost and turn up the fueling. Do it yourself and sace over 100 quid. |

Hi Chris. Have got a project (renault) 306 Td, because its dirty and I wrote renault on it . Will that justify a response? How do they tune up the pumps? Would it kill mpg or reliability. I read a 30 Bhp increase was poss. Know that the new diesels have ECU's and can be chipped. |

depends on the pump! They are all different.
I tink the pugsprts club had an article on the 306 td how to increase fueling. Do a google search, theres a few vaux sites that show how to do it on theuir pumps which some share with other cars.
With diesels you can keep adding fuel and air, you keep getting gains, trouble is the engines put under lots more strain and the smoke out the back increases lots with silly outputs. Also mpog drops rapidly as well. |
