i'll try to explain as best i can.when i go to put petrol in ie:a full tank it seems to over fill and spill over the side of tank,i fill until the pump nosel clicks meaning tank full, but some of it leaks straight back out.as far as i can tell it could be comming from where the pump is at the top of the tank, could this be either not done up properly ie:come loose or could a seal be broken.now when i put in petrol i estimate how much in money then knock off a couple of quid so it dosen't fill right up,then no probs just a bit smelly.HELP!!!. |

breather pipe perished or the over fill valve faulty.
When you remove the cap look and you will see a brown plunger. It should press in easily if the caps off. If its stuck in spray wd-40 in and then work it in and out with needle nose pliers. But you need to have a look at the hoses/tank itself. Often the tanks rust through, assuming you have a metal tank that is. |

thanks it does sound like the overfill valve cause it only does it when it is filled right up apart from that no leaks at all. |

no undo the filler cap its right in there. The fuel cap presses it down. |
