Hi all,
When I switch off my 1.9 TD engine it seems to shake a lot as if stalling. Is this just the car showing it's age or is there something I can do about it?
Cheers

its a diesel, it stops by being starved of fuel, yes it will shake! It will run on for a split second due to the way a diesel works. |

Thought so. Cheers Chris.
There is a lot of blue/white smoke coming from the exhaust on a cold start I've noticed of late when I rev it to 2000 rpm and the engine stutters for about 5 secs till it's all go. What's getting into my exhaust? |

white smoke is normal, thats steam. Blue smoke indicates oil but black smoke is usual on a cold start and any revving and mixed with white may appear blue/grey.
So don't worry. |

Yup, my TD shakes when I turn it off, just about every TD 19 i've driven does (ok so thats only about 3 , but enough to give you an idea) Mines a poor starter too when its cold, not figured out why yet tho. |
