the rear towing eye of my car was bothering me for a long time as it was in brown shitty rust color for ages .
while looking at it today i found lots of rusty bits and pieces underneath the car so tookl them all out .
here is the crap towing eye
and its out ,the other bit is the mounting of the spare wheel holder thingy
spare wheel holder was not looking very healthy either so took it off
i cant get the other mount as the back box is on the way
does not look good
is there a way to remove this without taking the rear bumper ??
i managed to scrape the rust on the bits i managed to take out and gave them a good old 2 coats of hammerite . the main cleaning will take place underneath the car tomorrow ,i have to cover everything with hammerite |

I done the same but the rust came back. And no to remove the cage hook the bumper has to come off. Its then 2 13mm's. |

how long did it take the rust to come back ?
i managed to remove the other mounting of the spare wheel holder thingy after taking the o/s rear wheel off . that bolt took me 15 minutes to remove ,what a pain .
i applied the hammerite on the brake drums a few months ago before putting the alloys on and it seems to have worked wonders .
i dont think any rust can get through 3 coats of hammerite that easy . |

it might not get through it straight away, but it will still be affecting the metal underneath |
