this is for flat out performane, when a restrictor is often used, its a way around the restrictor--having enough air available to cope with a few seconds of snap acceleration.
thats before u start saying a standard one isnt even that big....... |

like i said its a way round a restrictor |

and whatever volume ur plenum is, will there be a point wher eu get restricted airflow simply byt he size of the throttle plate....ie at 8000rpm could the engine be needing more air than can be flowed thru a given plate size? and how can u calculate this? |

there is always going to be a restriction with a plenum.......that is part of the reason why individual throttle bodies are used.
"ie at 8000rpm could the engine be needing more air than can be flowed thru a given plate size?"
could be, but it would depend on how well the flow thru the head is as to how much of a restriction there would be.
for instance, if u've got a shit head/cam and flow is crap anyway, then a throttle restriction wont be as great as if u had amazing flow thru the head (high valve lift, good duration etc etc), but with the same throttle plate
wot (I mean what really) do u want to calculate? |

if the size of the plate sayon the f7 is big enough..too big...? cos the area of that TB compared to 4 Tbs is a lot different |

it is possible calculate flow thru an orifice, but u need to know actual velocities
i think that it would be more a case of measuring flow thru the plate on a flow-bench and comparing it to flow thru a set of TB's. |

uh-hu very good.
1.5 times the engine size is ample, anything with over 6 cylinders can do with much less plenum volume. |
