Clicking noise coming from somewhere around the inlet mani/rocker cover. I haven't got a clue what it is and can't figure it out either.
Apart from that one of the spark plugs has got mayonaise type goo on it. only on the outside of the plug though. I'm assuming this is down to water getting into the plug off the rocker cover and mixing with oil spillage of some sort.
My question is do either of these things sound like they could cause a missfire or should I be looking elswhere to find the cause.
Cars not quite running right as I'm still waiting on that poxy downpipe from renault but I'm sure that's not causing it. It only happens for a couple of mins after starting the car but clears after that.
Haynes manual was less than helpfull as per usual and it's been a couple of years since I worked on a 19 and even then it was only a 1.4 energy so a completely different engine. I need help on this one!! |

yes the sludge is water and oil mixing from the vent, clean it out.
yes that will cause a missfire, most noticeable when trying to rev it or drive though.
Car will not run right if the downpipes leaking the lambda will be making it run rich when the car heats up. |

Ticking noise is just the injectors, assuming it does it when warm as well as cold. |

Mine is hot and cold so I'm glad that's nothing to worry about. |
