I have a pre '92 R19, so the sunroof just slides back (no tilt). however it currently refuses to do so.
to be honest it started messing up last summer when it began to work really slow. that was cured by soaking it in some cleaner stuff. but some day it made "click" and now the motor would go back (and even pulls the sun protection with it) but the window itself stays closed.
with more and more sunny days I want to get it working again. is there a way of looking at the motor and the connection to the sunroof without having to take the inner roof out? I know there are four bolts on the roof itself but I think that's not where my problem is located. I suppose something has either snapped off or unclicked where the motor connects with the driving mechanism of the roof. |

There is a carboard lining that sits between the Sunroof frame and the headlining iirc, that tends to get worn and the glass pulls up the edge when it retracts or it gets stuck (not as often) when trying to close. Best bet is to take the headlining off and cut the cardboard.. give the motor some TLC while you are at it! |

Get out of the car and thump the roof whilst pressing the switch, should get it going.
but it may be the plastic carriage that is meant to pull the glass back is broken. Sonejios GTS-X was like that, one side broke so it would pull back and then jam sometimes. |

been tinkering a bit with roof earlier in the day. didn't get it going, so I will have to remove the interior plastic parts, which is a real pain imho
anyway, when the motor is fully retracted I can manually open and close the roof. when I try to let the motor close the roof, it gets a funny angle. one side closes faster than the other.
so there's still the problem of the motor not pulling the roof back and now it's closing it wrong too
would I get away with just removing one side of the interior, so I can access the motor or does the whole "inner roof" need removing? |

ok, from now on this will just be a "tan-roof"
the motor is running fine as is the roof itself, just not both together. turns out the part that is pulled back by the sled (which in turn is pulled by the motor) has sheared off from the window mechanism itself. so the whole sled would need replacing which is too much hassle for a bit of air for me. |
