This is the 2nd time this has happened to me now.....I have just parked the car, engine still running, and I notice the rev counter is up at 2,000rpm......and the car was idling normally. So I blip the throttle....rev counter doesn't move.........I give it quite a bit of revs (higher than 2,000rpm) and the rev counter STILL doesn't move........so I turn the car off.....rev coutner still just sits up at 2,000rpm. Hmmmmm. I sit there for about 3 or 4 mins wondering what it could be, and then it just starts dropping gradually......and it's been fine since?! First time it did it (a while ago now), it was stuck up at 4,000rpm. I'm not worried about it at all like, cuz it's fine now and is fine mostly all of the time......just thought it was a bit weird that's all. It would be VERY annoying however, if my rev counter DID stop working. Is a very useful bit of kit lol Very Happy

I was about to ask that!

If its stuck when power is off then its not a sender prob, its in the tacho itself, the needle might just be gettin stuck on somethin

Think i'll move this to tech!

it does have lot to do with it my good man
CTS sends the info to your ECU (electronical control unit ,i believe) according to the coolant temp . if it reads very low which usually happens when the metal head is rusted to death ,it tells ur ECU to send more fuel to the manifold to warm the engine up .

My Rev counter used to do this, was as chet says, getting physically stuck. had to take gauges out and pull the needle forward on the spline. has been fine ever since. Smile

how can any of the things highlighted affect the rev counter in any way?

The rev counter is fed from the ignition module.

Only bridges has it right.

My white chamade jams the needle at 2krpm if the suns shining on the display, the glue softens and the face moves out jamming the needle.
