I was off out earlier and when I started the car I instantly knew something was wrong, and then figured out it was only running on 3 cylinders. So.....I pop the bonnet and of course the first thing I check are the HT leads, to see that they're all connected......and I find one that isn't connected on the dizzy cap. So boom, there's my problem sorted. BUT.....I cannot for the life of me figure out HOW it happened. It's hard to explain without a pic, but the lead that wasn't connected must have had a HELL of a pull on it, cuz it looked as tho it was still plugged in, but when I pulled it off to have a look, the metal connector bit inside couldn't be seen......so like the rubber 'boot' around the metal conector was just sat over the connection on the dizzy cap, but the actual metal connector had been pulled back down inside the boot so you couldn't see it. Hmm.....I can't explain it will try to get a pic tomorrow, but it's 3:00am now and can't be arsed lol. So anyway, I then thought "hmm....could be engine mounts" cuz it was the shortest (and therefore the tightest) lead to the engine, and so I thought under hard acceleration etc, there might have been enough movement to pull it from the dizzy cap.......but then I stopped being really stupid and realised the dizzy cap is bolted to the engine and therefore when the engine moves, it also moves with it! so it can't be that. What could've pulled that off with such force? I just don't get it. Maybe it moved enough to catch on the strutbrace, or on something else. God knows. I'll have to have a proper look tomorrow. Anyways, I'm off to bed |

quite common actually. the ht's where they plug over the leads do it more often. I always shove the connector out via the lead then click it ont he plug then poush the boot down to wheres its supposed to sit. |
