a lot of the time nbone were spliced so the indicatros flash. Its a scotchlock onto the hazard switch/fusebox/indicator stalk, could be any of them.
Whenever I get oen I just remove them they are very crap. |

the problem with alarms and immobilsers are the fitting.
To get it cat1/2 you need to let a certified installer fit it, now they vary, some are good but most are rather shoddy, on the other hand they don't want to strip your car out to fit it properly, time is money etc.
With the 16V's to get insured you normally have to have a cat2 immob at the very least.
Prices vary, but for a cat immob then its about 200 quid up and for a cat 1 which is alarm and immob then £300 up.
the cheapest alarm in halfords can be a very good device if installed and set up properly.
Sticking to big names helps as they tend to be the ones favoured by insurers.
So on that list you have clifford, toad, meta systems, cobra, auto watch etc.
a decent alarm/immobilser will be coldered in and there will be heatshrink not tape around the joins.
the renault efforts are scotchlocked on and they also use bullet connectors! Thats why the best thing to do is bin them or solder them in if you really wish to retain them.
Best thing you can do schakal is find a local cruise site, welshcruisers or summat and see where they recommend to have them fitted. |

I fitted a tow bar on mine. As I have a small trailer I use for shifting diving gear, old refrigerators, garden rubbish, family vacation baggage and tools to fix things around the inlaws house ect.
They all have holes in the frame under the boot to fit standard R19 tow bars, and a rubber covered hole in the boot floor for the wiring. No conector for the wiring though, I soldered mine into the rear light wiring, but you have to go forward to pick up the rear fog light. Usualy they use plastic clip things to connect but as they cut the insulation of the wire corrosion must be a problem. Maybe a standard Renault tow bar setup will have a towbar electric connection plug in there. Then again knowing Renault. (plastic clips )
I think the oil cooler, or at least the one on my car, you can see beneath the oil filter. It has two water hoses conected to it. This must be the one they are talking about I think. |

plastic clip things, scotch locks the bane of my car electrical fault finding existance!
The tow bar is fitted into existing holes as already mentioned but it means removal of a rear towing eye.
Yes th eoil cooler if you can call it that is the sandwich plate between the engine and oil filter. |

My towbar, Bosal I think, missed the tow eye, its still on.
Had to cut a small square out from under the rear bumper.
When the hooks removed (two 19 mm spanner size bolts), you see two small vertical plates and a bit of the electric socket under the bumper. |

it should bolt onto the bit where the tow hook bolts into, should be 4 biolts under the car holding it on.
Maybe it bolts over the top of the tow hook bracket on your car. |

Went and had a look. It has a flat tube across the back in front of the spare tyre, fitted to the car with two small angle brackets 4 x M8 - 25 bolts into a blind metal Rawl-plug thing. This sits inside the two fixings for the bumper whitch poke through the cross member. Then two flat bars bolt to a pice welded to the end of the tube and cut across around the spare tyre to the subframe. Fixed with a M10 - 80 bolt with a tube on it to stop it crushing the frame.
Misses the tow hook compleatly.
It can tow up to 1400 Kg and take a vertical weight of 75 Kg.
Fits Renaut 19 Sedan Phase 2 & Ren 19 (3 + 5 D) "16" Valve Phase 2.
Its after market kit. all holes lined up (no drilling every thing there).
Light weight and hiden under the bumper. |
