Right as you know just bought a R5 GTX last week.

Noticed a few things wrong, but the one that is bugging me is...

The car has PAS, now the tank was BONE dry, to quote tunney "That couldn't possibly be any drier". Now.. the pump doesn't squeel at all.

Today I though, ahh the old mans got some atf in the shed, I'll see what happens lol - BIG mistake!! The pump started squealing and fluid started to p1ss out lol

Now the fluid didn't actually come out of the pump, it came out of a sensor on the pump to rack pipe. The sensor has 2 wires leading to a multiplug connector that is disconneted for the main loom (although there is a plug for it).

Neil tells me this is a sensor for tickover adjustment, but my car is running a carb as per standard gtx - so it shouldn't have one lol

Is it worth me...

1) buying a new sensor off renault and hope the pump/rack/pipes are ok and it will magically start working again

2) taking the sensor off, plugging the hole and running it like that

3) binning the whole system and buying a manual rack

any advice will be appreciated lol!

you wont be able to plug it up with any old plastic, some power steering system can run upto 700psi, especially land rover ones.

like the man Tunney said its for efi idle speed adjustment.

They actually left them out of the game later on as they affected the idle to much.

1. Don't be daft man its 80 quid or something from ren.

2. This looks like a winner, either get another switch or find another suitable plug

3. You'll need a rack and column and so on.
