after confirming the coolant connections with chris the good man ,i started the car up today to see if there are any leaks ,how the engine is running ,electrics ,how the new heater matrix works etc .
the battery was still in good condition started up at first attempt no problems .still managed to detect a few problems
1-there is a ticking noise coming from somewhere around the oil filler cap area ,a tappet may be ? (the rocker cover gasket has been changed just a few days back )
2-trip computer, digi clock and the mirrors still not working even though the trip comp screen lights up and the mirrors + the mirror switch has been tested on my other car
3-the side indicators indicate too fast ,when i operate the hazard lights they slow down to the normal speed
4-fuck me !!! that new heater matrix is a finnish sauna ,after 5mins of idling it becomes hot as ferk (thats not a problem by the way ) |

Does the ticking get faster when you rev it? If so its probably the injectors. Tappets should clear up after a few minutes. |

3-indicator bulb?
1- follower/s try holding it at a high idle for a minute or so to help prime them |

yes thats right, liek Huw says you tell the tappets to be quiet and they will
Tappets will make a racket for a while if they want, they can make a noise as long as the engines running if they want. Its especially bad on cars that are idle for log periods.
dash etc will be a wiring fault or a fuse I would guess.
you have a blown indicator bulb somewhere.
stick the hazards on and walk round the car to see which one is out. If the bulbs are all flashing then check the wattage of the bulbs. |

tappets will be louder than the injectors....so if it is just ticking and not tapping then its normal mate. |

did not have time today to do the checks you are referring today ,will have a look tomorrow .
the rev counter was all over the place when i brought this car home(when hot) about 6 weeks a go and was thinking the lambda sensor was gone .
but after running the car for a good 15mins today ,i also noticed that erratical idling did not occur at all can it be related to me giving the CTS a good clean and scraping out a thick layer of rust of it ??? or is 15mins not enough to figure out if the lambda sensor is ferked or not ????? |

while bringing this car home in when first bought it , after it warmed up the revs were going up to 1500 and going down to 1200 less than a second and constantly when i was sat on the traffic . thats what i meant
i dont know if that would be related to CTS rather than the lambda , in fact i am just trying to think positive as a new lambda will cost |

lambda sensor. When you get the car running again take it for a hard thrash, that will clear the crap out of the lambda and get it up to temp should hopefully start working again, they often do. |

oops i think i know why the side indicators are going mad now , the bumper is off the car still thus the indicators on it are disconnected . bugger
thats one thing sorted me thinks ,
would disconnected leccy switches be effecting my mirrors, digi clock and the trip computer too ??? |

depends on the switches but, if the leccy windows are unplugged then the leccy mirrors are affected I think. |
