Damn right. But why is it such an underated car? I say to the guys at work that it is a legendary car......and they just laugh at me y'know. I have got a magazine article on the release of the 5dr Executive hatch, and part of it says...
"Anyway, the recent arrival of the Executive is a great excuse to go have a good time screeching around in one of the best handling hot hatches there's been to date."
Just SLIGHTLY more legendary than a corsa, mate but there's just no tellin him |
Which car mag/issue was that? |

It was "PERFORMANCE CAR" magazine from March 1995. I only have the one page lol, not the whole magazine, so I dunno what issue it is. Tell you what, I'll scan it. See if I can make it big enough to be readable.... |

Well I've scanned it, but uploadit.org seems to be havin a bit of a wank at the moment. Can anyone else upload to it? It says to contact support, and I have. So.....um.....maybe later then!
I've just noticed something interesting about the article........it reckons it's a 1.7 litre 16v engine hmmmmm. Slight miss-print me thinks |

Iv always thought from the minute i seen it that the 1916v was a damn sexy looking car
and the vent in the bonnet (as troublesome as they are) added to it,
iv got a mag article that says "The 1916v was the car they bought when the Q for the Golf GTI was to long"
And other article that says " The 1916v has one of the most awesome engine's ever to fire up"
I seem to remember that in its day the 1916v was the highest BHP 1800cc sports hatch there was, until honda released the utter ugly CRX,
And beside's, if you push the front seats right forward, tilt them, you've got the best hatchback "passion wagon" there is and that goes along way, i used to know one lassie that loved sitting on the vent after a drive |

I STILL can't upload anything but yeah, an article section sounds cool. I've got this article that I'm trying to scan, a road test from "Performance Car" 1993 with the Astra 2.0 GSi, Citroen ZX 2.0 16v, Fiat Tipo 2.0 16v & The Ford Escort RS2000.......and the R19 16v wins the test hehe. I've also got a road test with a Chamade from 1994, up against an Alfa Romeo 155 2.0 Twin Spark and a Honda Civic 1.6 VTi. That's from "CAR" magazine. Think that's me all out actually! Pretty poor show! The only trouble is scanning 'em and getting 'em big enough to be readable, but not too big as to cave in all the servers the site is running off lol. And of course if uploadit.org was working that would help things for me slightly |

I shall dig it out later sir. Hopefully uploadit.org will be working by then. I had an email off them saying that there's a problem and they know about it and are investigating it now. So fingers crossed |
