Windows packed up again (fully down of course ). I've taken the door to bits and checked the wire and all that. I took the plug off the regulator behind that foam on the top left of the door and checked it with a multimeter. 12v's it read. So is there anything else I should try tomorrow before going down the scrappys for a replacement? I've had to wrap the window up in a bin bag to keep the rain (typical) out tonight
Cheers Guys

Is the motor sounding like it is labouring or clicking? Or not working at all? |

It's a clicking like when the window is fully up and up click the window to go up again. ie it clicks off. |

Have you tried lubricating the runners? From my experience a window will not work if it is clogged up with sh1t, the motor labours and the regulator stops the power. Windows never get serviced but they do need it. A spray of WD40 might smear the windows a little on the edges but it saves problems later on in life. |

I'll give it a go. However this has happened before. I have left it overnight and then magically in the morning it will work again. Cheers for the advice buddy. Hope it solves it. The glass holder looks like a right bugger to get off! |

Probably because the rain lubricated it a bit. Hope you find the cure, no problem on the advice. Hard to diagnose sat here. Good luck |

Well lubed it with a cand of WD40 at about 2am last night before I went to bed. Tried it this morning and......No Change . So looks like it's a hunt for a new/2nd hand regulator. Just hope I can find one
Cheers for all the help guys. Appriciate it as always

At least it will stop the replacement becoming U/S. |

Still think it was what I said orginally. I looked on the Renault TIS too (found nothing). It is just resistance going up and down. If the resistance is too much this is what will happen. Hence why it works when not fitted.
Does the glass move in the runners smoothly when pushed up and down by hand? If not spray down the window runners until it does
Does the motor run all the way out of the car? If it does there is not a lot wrong with it, refer to above. If not it is a scrap yard run you need. |

give direct 12v to the electrodes and see if its working
if not ,the motor is buggered unless the electrodes are not ferked
the motor itself is a sealed mechanism by the way ,its quite hard to put it back once you open the whole thing |

Problm in the end was a loose connection on the connecter plug to the motor. When it was connected properly it shorted out. When the plug was pulled out 1-2mm it worked! LOL!! Swapped for the scrappy one any way and put a rubber seal in the motor end to keep the plug 2mm from sitting flush.
Was driving around with the regulator in the back seat for two days with an empty fag paket keeping the window from falling LOL!! Felt a bit thick when I found out the problem. But at least that solved the "it sometimes works" problem! |
