Hey guys,
basically ive been told to come here via RSC forum
see the thread here http://www.renaultsportsclub.co.uk/forum_3403/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=32195
can any of you guys tell me if this is true about lightly tuning a 1.8RT mk1 phase 1?
This is regarding the RT apparently being a SPI engine where the RSi is infact multi-point. Any ideas about this mentioned head swap?
Id like maybe 100-110bhp out of a 1.8RT so was just wondering how the RSi puts out 110 where the RT is 90bhp.
Apparently the 1.8RT i wont be able to get a chip for. But maybe id be intrested in a head swap and a new exhaust and sort the filter out.
I dont want anything silly just a little more poke out of it.
Engine conversions are not on the cards due to the cost of insurance.
Regards
Dave |

Marks right in the fact the 1.4 is a better engine.
Its just as quick as the 1.8 RT.
The engines are identical the only diff is the injection system.
The RT is SPI and the RSI is MPI.
It really is a case of 23 horses due to the fuel being delivered properly.
TBH I would either go for a 1.4 rt or get an rsi.
If the 1.8 is the way of things then you can upgade it to an rsi by getting the rsi efi gear and its wiring loom and ECU, easiest way would be get the complete head with evetrything still attached then plonk it on.
The head will respond to some fettling quite nicely as well. |

well price depends on where you go.
but a laguna lumps head will do the job just fiine then all you need to do is a bit of loom messing around. |

m plate on really. the 2 litre head is the same as the 1.8's as well.
the early lags 1.8 had SPI as well though so avoid them! |
