something always have to happen for ferks sake, just bought a set of ph1 alloys that came with goodyear eagle nct2 s with 6mm thread on all tyres . one of the tyres was punctured by the looks of the nail sticking of the tyre ,took it to a tyre repair place and went to get it back only to see they cant fix the bloody tyre as there are 2 little rips on the sidewalls ,fair enough ,i dont know how safe to drive with that tyre be anyway but now ,i have 3 goodyear tyres and 1 will be missing .
whats the regulation regarding the make of tyres ? i made a search for 1 eagle nct2 but cant seem to find 1 anywhere ???
here are some taty pics of the rips

Doesn't matter about make or model of tyre, but the tread pattern has to be the same or at least very similar. |

still no sign of an airleak from the side walls
so why the hell have i been told that the tyre cant be fixed ,i do understand damage to the side walls is a dangerous situation but this tyre seems to be fine .whats the criteria to look for about the side wall damage ???? |

anything.
The walls move a lot, so any damage may cause delamination |

its illegal to repair any tyre on the sidewall or within a certain distance from the edge of the tread.
Safety issue.
just be thankfull you don't live in germany, if a tyres is punctured and it has to be replaced and that means the opposite tyre on that axle also has to be replaced.
You can see the canvass in the 2nd picture that will burst in a short space of time if used btw.
mytyres etc sell 1 tyre, thing is you need to go select 2 fill in the details then change the number of tyres and select 1. |

yeah to be honest you got to think of the stresses the sidewall has when cornering when its flexing, if could either put a egg in the side wall or worse. |
