Guys, do any of you know your rovers? I'm basically wondering what rover there is of this shape that's got a turbo. A petrol, not a diesel.
Any ideas? Just wondering cuz I was going back to the car after a night out with mates and had the usual boy racers circling the car park, and one was a rover like this shape (but with about 18 body kits on, 24" exhaust, etc), and it whistled up past me and then let off a MASSIVE pttttttssssssshhhhhhhh as he accelerated past me & changed gear as if to say "look at meeeeee". So I was like "right, come 'ere" and went after him. He was driving normally for a while and then slowed down to about 20mph on a massive straight road and I was in 1st just waiting for him to floor it, but I got bored and just slammed me foot down and went round him.......and even as I was going past him I could hear the turbo & dump valve and the car sounded proper beastly like........and I was kinda wondering why I was pulling away from it quite easily! You reckon it's a 'normal' rover with some kinda turbo sound effect thing on? Or is there a real turbo one that is a bit shit? I'm just curious. I keep seeing him around now parked on side of the road or in car parks with all his other boy racer mates, as I drive past him like "muuwaahahahahahaha" |

200bhp? Um........how the fuck did I out accelerate a 200bhp turboed car?! If that's what it was of course. I'm gonna try and remember the number plate of it next time I see it, and then put it into an insurance quote website and see what it comes up with. Cuz I'm sad like that lol. |

in general.
A 200 bhp turbo lump will be easily left behind by a 200bhp NA lump.
Turbos are ok when they get goign but the power band is narrow. |

well it didnt have that engine from the factory. Quite a few conversions get done, since its identical underneath to the mk2.
Sure it was a 2L turbo diesel? |

might have been a 620, they all look the same. Anyway they all look the same and all have the half leather black and light grey interior with air con etc.
Alan was gonna get it but insurance was to steep. Suffered the usual rover turbo problem even with 17's the tyres just light up. |

aye, and the 200s torque steer too.
im told the 600 is not so bad as it has a TorSen diff, Simons got a 600 gearbox in his 200, just floors it and apart from a 'bit' of wheelspin, it just takes off straight as an arrow. In the wet, forget it.
He's nearly finished his 300bhp forged engine too, should be interesting |

I think the 400's aren't too bad in crashes, compared to the one star 600's anyway lol
Ross who has the white hatch valver i posted pics of has a 620ti too. Nice car, looks like a grandad machine but has plenty of poke |
