can't get reverse can get all the other gears but not reverse it graunches but nothing there  any ideas  I meant to say it was ok on monday nothings been changed just topped up the gearbox oil. |

Linkage needs adjusting? Worn bush? Failing that sounds like your selector might be on its way out - this happened to me just recently on my escort, however it was the opposite, i got no gears except reverse. Ended up changing the gearbox, one week after changing the clutch - i was not a happy bunny, i hate repeating jobs! |

gears probably missing a few teeth, roll the car back a bit and try again.
but it might just be the linkage has moved. |

while on topic, chris ,could you tell me if this looks like the right spring that holds the gearstick in place and tensioned ?

well just adjusted the selector made sure the gearbox was brimmed and guess what?................can now get reverse only got to get the wippers working now  |
