Hi, Just got my L reg Renault 19 16V Cabrio. There are a few buttons and switches that I am nit sure what they do?
The first is a knob near to the speaker on the drivers side, which seems to turn and has 3 positions. It is mounted on the side pocket of the door. It has wires comming out of it inside the door cover.
On the left hand side of the steering coloum there are 2 switches. One is a dummy and the other has a "X" on it....What is it for?
Also I have a key switch in the top of the glove box. but the key I have fits, althoe tight, will not actually turn this switch...What is this?
Also the clutch is very heavy.....and I have to push it all the way to the floor. Also it is difficult to get into reverse, gears cruch. If I sit for a few seconds in neutral then it will go in without crunching. What could bethe issue. I belive that the gear box has the correct level of oil. Revs are at 1000. Gears 1-5 are OK and dont have probs.
Also....there is an orange wire under the drivers seat which appears out of the carpet?
Alot of Q's but I am keen to know all and be enlightened to the World of the Renault 19....LOL
Many thanks in anticipation of the many replys. |

Hi Wilko, welcome to the forum! You've come to the right place if you want to know everything there is to know about R19s.
The only question I can answer is the key in the glovebox will be for the standard Renault immobiliser which most on here hate! It should be a little brass key for that one and it should turn about a quarter turn. |

The button with the X locks the back electric windows from working, to stop kids jumping out, Pointless with the roof down I know,
I believe the other button is for an electric roof, although I have the button on mine, that is all I have the button, it is connected to nothing, so no leccy roof |

Thanks for all the advice on the Q's. I like the idea of the eject button, specially if it works on the passenger side when "She who must be obeyed" is in the car..... |
