Looks like i'm going to be changing the cambelt and tensioners on my clio soon. I have just about got my head round it all thanks to the guide at www.m-fix.co.uk/clio.

But....it says it is very difficult to change the lower idler pulley as the oil pump pulley has to be removed, and if this goes wrong it means taking the engine out???

Why???

What can go wrong that would mean engine removal???

The more info i can gather before i attempt this the better so any help is gratefully received.

Cheers!

basically, there is the rear plastic cam belt cover on the block, behind the cambelt, but cleverly, renault put the idler puller behind this cover with just the wheel poking out.

But there are access holes to the mounting bolts for this so you can undo it.

To remove it, the problem M-fix was on about is that to remove the rear cover you have to remove the oil pump pulley, as the brainboxes at renault (yet again) decided to fit the rear cover then press the oil pump pulley over the top of it!

But, if you just undo the top few bolt of the rear cover, it will bend out of the way enough for you to withdraw the pulley.

so dont touch the oil pump pulley.

they are idiots, right first things 1st, clio 16V and especially willy owners are in this elite group called super muppets.

They generally don't know their arse from their elbow.

The amount of pish they speak gives a few of us hours of entertainment, but we shall not dig to deep here.

No need to remove the pulley, just undo the bolts (they can be anything from 6mm allen key to T30's btw) and pull the plastic forward like JB said.

You had a bad experience with a clio in the past or something chris lol

I do kinda know what you mean though, i've tried to speak to other clio16v owners near me before and they do talk some shit.
Only need to look at the cliosport website to notice that lol good for a laugh though.

I have found any experience with a clio generally to be a bad one!
