after going to the French Car Show the weekend which the car was getting a wee bit hot which i'm goona sort witha low temp thermostatd and switch. but when i got home i noticed my idle was really lumpy low down, it drops down to like 800rpm which it never did before its like its goona stall, it always used to idle around 1000rpm.
anyone got any ideas on the idle would be much appreciated |

clean air filter, chk plugs and leads and dizzy cap, chk coolant temp sensor (first thing i wud change) chk TPS, change fuel filter, change lambda sensor, could be dirty injectors, faulty fufth injector...start eliminating things
i had a shit lumpy idle for ages.....turned out the TPS had managed to wedge itself full yopen so car thought i was at wot (I mean what really) all the time, so it overfuelled and ran like a dog...
btw dunno if i ever said this before but i used to get a bit of smoke after a high rpm run down then back on the throttle, just as if i was suppin oil thru the valve guides or something....but thats all gone now since fixing the TPS so muct have just been overfuelling...its clean as a whistle now except for a mere puff at 7k rpm |

one of those things, they happen now and then.
As for the oil puff they always do.
In the blue hatch whenever I ragged it and its the fastest stock 16V I have ever driven and I have driven a few in my time, the car would come to a standstill then a big blue cloud would float on by, never used excessive oil or anything though.
Oil puff now and then is normal. |

aye tis the prob with mas production.
Another thing about the xr's was the changeover on the 2's from the DFT to the later TLDM carb. Earlier cars were much quicker.
the RST's left the factory with boost as low as 2/3PSI, they are meant to run 7.25PSI stock.
My chamade is getting slower. |
