Barryboys is so full of shit. Well most of it is and I'm not talking about the cars.
It had a Clio 16v and there and someone was saying the bonnet vent was aftermarket, then someone said it was standard but useless unless they were running a turbo. Someone said it was to clear the head of the F7P/R and another said something to do with cooling the exhaust manifold which sounds most feesable.

It is to clear the head...well manifold....the bulge that is, not the vent. |

Barryboys is one of my favourite forums.
Taking the piss out of neds and their little shitboxes is a sport which I thoroughly enjoy
Plus, its always refreshing to see a good no holds barred abusing on a forum |

So if you dont know about the mechanicals of a car, youre not allowed to have an opinion on the way it looks?
How about me, I know a bit about car mechanicals, am i allowed an opinion? |

It is to clear the inlet manifold. It can rub otherwise, plus manufacturers have to leave a certain gap between solid components (ie engine) and the bonnet, for when you mow down pedestrians, to cushion the blow, so the larger manifold meant it needed more gap. |

Well what difference does it make?
No ones taking the piss out of the technicals of the cars, just the looks
A car can be a beast, but if its got loads of plastic shit stuck all over it, then it will still get the piss ripped out of it.
Course, thats rarely the case, as people with decent cars rarely seem to get 'barried'
But as you say, it is a 'ripping site' and thats why i love it! |
