got given one of the said cars by my folks the other week, was wondering....
Is it possible to buy a panel filter for the 1.6 16v engine??
Secondly, there's a sort of squeal at low revs when i initially pull away. Any ideas what that could be?
Car sitting at 59k if that helps and its an early 2000 v.
cheers |

cheers for the quick reply mate!
Sounds like its coming from the passengers side, my initial thought was the clutch release bearing.. im not sure though... never happens if i put a lot of revs on the car when i move off
quite a nippy car though, was surprised by it actually |

if the air box is square then it should fit!
Could be the release bearing, when you rev it lots you have engine noise covering it and I would imagine you don't slip the clutch as much! |

id check the gearbox mountings personally, and check the tension on the auxiliary belt.
the air filter is about 4 inch by 6inch on the 16v, id do away with it completely and redo the intake.
Stupid setup on the engine i reckon, inlet and exhaust on the back but injectors at the front! |

engines set up like that to get runner length, and the injectors are mounbted to fire on the back of the inlet valves. |
