God I've really noticed the effect of the high price of fuel this week!
This morning I stuck a fiver's worth of unleaded in the 19 and after the trip to work (5 minutes and 4 miles each way) plus a trip into town and back the orange light was on already!
The price of fuel is so bad at the minute that I checked the car over for leaks, and after finding none, concluded that the phenomenon I was experiencing was excessive fuel taxation!
C'est la vie I suppose, after all, a fivers worth doesn't get you as much as it did 3 years ago!

yeah I mind going to georges 2/3 years ago, petrol was 69p a litre at his end!

To put it into context 2 years ago £5 of fuel would just about get me back to Newark from Manchester (75 miles) providing I drove relatively economically.
As today's little adventure proves, the same monetary amount of petrol got me all of about, oh, I don't know, 25 miles? Have to admit though, I have been 'enjoying' the driving roads you only find out in the countryside so I should take that into consideration! |

In reply to Neal's point I agree mostly, but you have to remember that the Government relies on the revenue motorists generate to pay for other things, so I think it's wrong to say that motoring is 'dying out' as it were.
Thing is, people will continue to use their cars in the face of increasing costs, whether it be the cost of MOT's, Road Tax, Petrol, Speed Camera fines etc, so the Government will continue to up the costs of these things as long as the public at large show no signs of commuting using public transport.....IMO. |

australia pish, new zealand aye.
My aunt and uncle are over from Oz and they are now arseholes, my mum has been over as has my gran, they think its ok for a quick visit but not to live.
Canada and new zealand seem to be places to go. |

It is cheaper to drive...bus cost me £4 just to get home! Car costs me £15 back and fore to work a week, bus would cost me £24 |
