hey guys sorry aint bee in touch just been so busy at work.
lately ive noticed a few problems and im not sure wat it is

first is tht on the first start up of the day it starts as nrmal but if you go to take off it hesitates and if it doesnt hesitate it will cut out, a few ppl at work have said idle speed valve, a leak in a pipe so on and so forth but once its warm i.e just siting idle for about 2mins is good as gold so any ideas would be nice.

second is the auxilery water pump, for some reason it stays on after switching engine off and thus after 10mins aswell and kills the battery over night also the engine runs a bit hotter than usual, ive disconnected it recently and the battery is fine any ideas why it doesnt switch off

The aux water pump is meant to come on when u switch the engine off.
it's not meant to be running when the engine is on.
its purpose is to carry on pumping water round the engine to cool it off quicker.
it's only meant to run for about 8 - 10 minutes after you turn off the ignition.

however if it just carries on going and going draining your battery overnight then disconnecting is no biggie.
half of them dont work anymore anyway.

as for the first problem, i would also think its either the idle control valve or possibly the coolant temp sender (CTS) but i am not 100% on that.

I woudl say a cold start enrichment problem as well, CTS probably.

what plugs are you using?

looks like im going to have 2 buy a speedo cable and CTS, im using the champion eon plugs but its due 4 a 3k service now so ill change them again to ngk, how hard is it 2 change the speedo cable aswell as mine has snapped and has anyone got 1 or how much are they roughly frm renault, i did phone them u a few days ago and they sed around 35 quid + vat - 15% if i order thru wrk

also is worth getting a 3.5" straight thru pipe and 5inch backbox, ive herd the bossmans scoob and its rated at 118decibels at about 4krpm and i reckon i can beat tht any suggestions on that

if u wanna be on barry boys then yea go ahead, but not on a valver, a 5in back box will look shit, sound even worse.

harsh words danny.

as far as i know speedos for r19 16v from renault are in the 80-90 pound mark. cheaper for you if u can find one in a scrap yard.

it is fiddly getting them out...you can see easy enough where it enters the box, but it could be well and truly stuck...a lot of pulling and it will break out..which is no problem in ur case,

then u just need to pull out the plasticy bits as well..the it runs thru the bulk, behind the heater box intot he rear of the clocks...this should be fine to get off, just feel up there and squeeze the clips together...plus there is an electrical wire coming off the end of the cable into a socket from the clocks.

maybe it was harsh, but, loud exhausts arent for 19 16v's but 140 dB!! your not getting that out of a 19 onless you dont have a backbox, and if you have a 5" back box, not only isit looking shit, sound shit, and will loose performance aswell, as there wont be any back pressure. also a 3.5" pipe will loose performance as the ehauxt fumes will have to be pushed out, where as the optimum size pipe is around 2.5" as it creates a vacuum, which sucks the exhaust fumes out meaning that the engine doesnt have to force the fumes out as hard.

just learnt this in college, so its all still fresh in my mind.

Q: you know what the biggest problem with a loud exhaust is?

A: you won't be able to use it on a track day most race tracks if not all tracks have a 105db at 0.5m from the exhaust at 2/3rds max revs, that is why loud exhausts are a waste of time.

maybe he is just about about the tailpipe being 5" cant imagine he was gunna run 5" all the way thru.

still at some point he will have to go from 3.5 to 2.25 or whatever the std size is pretty sharpish.

i dont care! i dont care!

i am gunna experiement by fitting a stainless centre section onto the std back box...so the car looks the same from outside, but has no centre sections.

this is in the name of experimentation as i do not know if it wil have a good effect or not.

its not 3.5" btw!

i dont want a really loud car. and i want to retain the std looking sexy backbox on the hatch

and i want this...

and i want that....

ok well looks like im going 2 have 2 stick with 2.5" centre and a letterbox type backbox thnx for feedback to guys willl have a look for faults later on will reply bk sooon
