i have just had a standard back box put on the 19..whilst im going through the phase of getting it standard i was wandering what peoples views were on swapping from a k&n to the standatd air filter?
Which is better?
what difference would there be?
is there any point?
Cheers. |

personally i wouldnt touch k&n with a barge pole on the renaults or peugeots frm past experiance all they do is make a loud roar on full throttle infact ive proven it decreases bhp on the 19s by a fair bit as my dad had a ph2 chamade and i had a ph1 chamade with a k&n and i could catch up really tbh m8 go 4 a viper kit or green cotton twister kit i reckon they are the best 4 the frenchys, a panel filter wont do much good i dont think either i mean u need the best of both worlds i.e roar and a bit more poke juss not a gutless sounding valver with a roar now do ya |

25quid universal induction kit.
Vast improvement over the stock airbox on my car and a few others agreed on it.
Its not like the clio with the IK on the TB directly its in an area far enough away from the engine heat and the stock air feed pipe supplies plenty of cool air to it.
The K&N is far to small for the 19, although I used to have the cossie RS500 filter on my old black hatch which was massive and did the job. |

so overall prefrence chris...what would you recomend?standard or K&N??
the only thing im not too keen on is the roar it makes on full throttle, which touring 19 16v commented on.
Take it that roar would not be there if replaced with the standard filter? |

I got an ITG panel filter in mine.
Much better than a standard filter without the noise, although i have just bought a piper IK for a quid off ebay, so i will see if theres any difference between the two. |

I wouldn't bother with a K&N, get a universal effort, much bigger and better. |
