Just watching this documentary hosted by Chris Barrie about the progression of engines in commercial and long-distance haulage vehicles....all impressive stuff!
There was this 1920's/30's petrol truck with a 7.0 4-cylinder engine that made 25bhp!
Then apparently they made the shift to diesel power what with the cost of refining petrol and the economy differences.
Last thing I saw before I came on the PC was the latest generation of artic - a 16.1 litre 6-cylinder Turbocharged diesel powered Volvo that evolves 610bhp! Peak torque between 1000 and 1500rpm. |

someone at my dads work, has a Volvo NL12 thats a V16 with a remapped ECU producing around 900bhp apparently, it flies! |
