got thebloody thing out in the end ,no damage ,its as good as new.
now the big challenge is yet to come tomorrow, fitting the speedo cable shall be fun.
i sprayed lots of wd40 from the gearbox end of the cable untill i see it coming from the instrument panel end ,which will lube the inner cable me thinks |

its doing me tits in now, i lost the fecking white plastic surround that goes to the gearbox end
still could not fit the cable due to this problem ,and the only way to drive the car without killing the engine is quickly geting it in neutral from any gear and pressing the accel pedal once as the revs are dropping .one touch lets it stay in 1000rpm otherwise goes down to 400 and dies in the middle of driving even at 70-80 mph |

fitted the speedo cable today ,routing was much easier than i thought it would be , now i am also fully capable of getting the instrument panel in and out in less than 30 mins
i can see my speed now at last and the revs are back to normal as i can see after a short drive .
the trip computer could not get used to the situation easily and was showing 55 gallons of fuel in the tank at some point ,disconnected the negative lead for a half an hour hopefully that will sort it out .
cheers for all the help chris ,legend |
