Hi guys - great site 
I went to get some new tyres today, but the garage couldn't get two of the locking wheel nuts off. I've spent the day going around garages, but to no avail. The problems are:
1. The nuts/key are anonymous and old - not 100% whether they're Renault, although they may be (read on!).
2. The face of the nut is too shallow to allow a bit to be bashed on (see pics). It only protrudes by about 5mm above the face of the nut.
3. The nuts are proving too hard to drill.
4. Williams wheels allow virtually no room for movement around the nuts.
Imagine how chuffed I was when I dug out an old bill from 1996, which is for a locking wheel nut key! Unfortunately, on taking the part number/code down to Renault they said that the part number refers to a key that looks different to the one I have.
Not sure what to do now - I'm going to contact the former keeper to see if he remembers changing the locking nuts. Boo hoo.
The part no. in question is 77 01 382 556. If anyone knows whether this part number is right for this wheel nut key I'd be really, reallly pathetically grateful! |

get one of those springy pin sockets and that will do it. |

anyone tried those gator grip thingies....i always thought they were a bit gimmicky and would break after a few hard efforts |

they are not bad, I managed to break one though but I was standing on it and I weigh 18(ish) stone. |

Gator grips are cool to get you out of trouble.
If that wont work then try a close fitting socket (slightly too small) heated and bashed on! Crude but effective! |

...then get a good drill...u will be able to drill them out, you just need the right drills bits. |
