is it illegal to have a car registered in one name (mine), but the insurance in someone else's name (my father)?
Insurance company phoned yesterday saying basically saying its not allowed...
options being register the car with my dad, or get my own insurance. |

Try for a quote in your name, but have your Dad insured on it as well.
I did that when I was younger and that seemed to make a difference. |

It is legal but if you make a claim and the insurance company do not have the info on file then it's unlikely they will pay out. You would have to declare the car is registered in your name when setting up the insurance in your dads name. |

dont think that matters as my company is covering my liabilty to other ppl. the car has to be privately owned and not hired etc etc...so ie a friends car. |

You normally get 3rd party cover for other cars as the policyholder. |
