I *tried* to change the belt on the water pump. Is it called a fan belt? Anyway it seems to be the only one on the R19. I loosened all the nuts and bolts I could find and the belt became very loose, but I couldn't get it off for love nor money. I just loosened the 2 nuts I saw. Is there some trick I am missing? Thank you. |

You need to loosen the lower alternator bolt/nut which is 16mm. |

Right ..I'm sure I did that because I used a 16 mm spanner. (in any case I could only find 2 nuts to loosen) The alternator did move , but not enough to remove the belt. It came to a metalic stop. So I was wondering if I should remove anything else ...? Is there a third nut to loosen?
Thank you. |

I assume you don't have power steering.
Anyway loosen the 16mm nut and bolt under the alternator loosen the 13mm nut and bolt at the top then you have to lever the alt back with a bar or something.
the cut out on the alts meant to swing on isn't of the correct arc so it binds. |

No power steering. Ok I will try that, eventhough the alt did seem to come to a definate mettalic stop, going about 75% of the cut-out, but I couldn't see what was stopping it.
Thank you. |
