can any help me with my prized phase 1 19 16 valve, ive owned the car three months and compared to the long list of other cars ive had i was happy, until it started getting what is in my opinion a knock on idle and during accelleration which is worse when cold, since it started ive changed the fuel filter, spark plugs,im waiting for ht leads to arrive off ebay.
i cleaned the idle speed valve and throttle body today using chris`s guide which was really helpfull by the way,but the problem is still there, the car is standard apart from exhaust air filter and low temp stat+switch.
is that buzzing from the fuel pump nomal mine sounds like a space ship the brother in laws chamade ph 2 doesnt. |

happened on mine mate i had my ph1 4 about 3 days and the engine sized check your oil pressure gauge wen u start the car and see where it is coz if it doesnt move above a 1/4 from the bottom your oil pump has given up and its starving of oil hence what happend to mine causing the evry internal on the bottom to dry up and eventually seize. also does the car start sriaght up after a longish run as mine didnt whilst this oil starvation was happening |

sorted the problem,it was the ht leads, didnt think it could have been them as it gradually got better as the engine got warmer, suppose the dodgy lead must have expanded or something with the heat. |

aye a misfire is what i would expect but thats a different sound to a knock
he prolly just did not describe the sound very well lol
i know on my black chammy, that does have the big ends knackered and boy does that knock lol, its ok at idle but take it over 3000 rpm and it has an amazingly loud knocking noise heh |

whats a pte engine?
The HCS is far worse than the cvh for tapping.
End of the day its maintenance, when looked after they are both good engines. |

yea it was a cvh, i aslo had a friend come to me yesterday saying its lost power, wont do more than 70mph, sounds like its got an induction kit when accelarating, found the problem. oil...or the lack of it shall i say he had just traveled baxck from skegness with it doing this strangly, dumped some oil in it, and its quicker than it used to be, so he did something but he managed 105 out of it, instead of its usual 95 |

the knock as described was the exhaust downpipe vibrating under rough idle/dodgy ht lead, its got a full stainless magnex but it looked like a blindman fitted it when up on the ramps...nice warble on it though, not too loud. |
