As soon as you buy an (overpriced) secondhand ECU, your mate will find his key down the back of the sofa, guaranteed...

ermmm i would take chris h s advice first before buying an ECU
i think he is saying a plip and receiver can sort the problem rather than the ECU .

but than if you decide you want the ECU ,pm me and i will sort something out

where does the reciever plug into ??
also what is a plip?
tried the scrappys in my area and none have any clio or 19 valvers!
would the ECU not be guarenteed to work then?

revceiver is the bit up at the sunroof controls.

plip is the plippy key.

it might work it might not, ECU I mean. But no there are no guarentees.

depends if you want to fleece your mate

He paid 200 for it as a runner, now it's a non-runner, so you decide how much it's worth

To be honest mate, you're going to want to use the remote central locking - you'll have to get another plip key and receiver eventually so you might as well do it now. Cheaper and just as easy to get as an ECU - and you know it's definitely going to work...

pop the ECU out of its case and give me the numbers that are on the case

there are several differing versions of the 19 16v ECU and depending on the revision is wether the immobliser is built into it or not.

the immob ECU tended to be only fitted to the later models but some 1993 19's had them as well (mine does for example and its a 93)

but first check ebay for 19's that are being broken, buy the complete lock set off one, the remote reciever (the bit that goes by the sunroof controls), key, door locks, ignition barrel and hatch lock, that way you will have a complete matching set of locks, key and plip as it is rare to have the immob ECU on a 19

changing the reciever over is dead easy, just remove the roof panel, the reciever just plugs in, unplug the old one, plug in the new one and put the panel back on.
