Any1 know how much less torque a Clio 1.4RT box can take than the F7P box (sorry, dont know codes off the top of me head). if not in figures, any1 know how much weaker it is.
also wot (I mean what really) r the ratios for these box's. could look in haynes, but cant be arsed goin round 2 my garage!!
Considering putting a 1.4 box i've got spare on my 2.0......but cant be arsed changing it after a week of canning!
Cheers, Craig |

from mr haynes:
JB1,JB3 and JB5
1st 3.7:1 (3.1:1 16v)
2nd 2.1:1 (1.8:1 16v)
3rd 1.3:1
4th 1.0:1
5th 0.8:1
reverse 3.6:1
no idea about the strength of em tho.... |

it all depends on the code. some 1.4's had jb1's others had jb3's. all jb3's wud be of similar strength, so any1 of the boxes will do. jsut make sure its got the right bell housing for the ally sump. |

the non 16V lumps have the tin sump bellhousing.
The shafts and bearings etc are the same, as are the synchro rings etc.
The JB5's some of them have the diff held in by a large nut instead of a circlip.
The p[assenger side sunwheel is still only held in by the same circlip and thrust washer.
But anyway the 1.4 box will be fine. |
