i asked about that ages ago on RSC. Noone knew. best guess was that it was where the head was clamped during manufacture or something
I initially though it was to shoe maximum skim depth or something, but its kind of deep for that! |

the one in the peak to the side of the spark plug hole.
best theory I can come up wiith and it makes sense is a mould mark, secures the metal as it cools from the casting so the mould doesn't move. |
