The Cordy & The Valver

Ok, So I've had my cordy for a fortnight now and somehow managed to do about 800 miles in the thing! Thought I'd write a little comparison in my own opnion!

I think that the Cordoba would outhandle the Valver - or - at least the Cordoba feels a lot more confident in its step although I haven't yet had it "snap" on me to find what its limits are. It was a pleasnt surprise to find that the steering / clutch / brake pedals were nice and hard not airy fairy like some newer cars although the gears are a bit slick in comparison with the valvers I've driven. Its far too quiet at the moment with no exhaust / induction but I don't want to dint the fuel economy too much, have had 43mpg on the motorways and never usually less then 32mph round about, thought I'm quite a lead footed driver so it doesn't last long.

The ABS is the best ABS of any car I've driven, the brakes are off a Corrado G60 and the ABS is very last minute, its very late to engage which is good because of the other cars I've driven the ABS comes on long before I'd expect the wheels to lock. It has traction control which while I know what it does I can't say I've known it to operate as of yet but maybe that has added to the handling?

Speed - well, I think the valver would have it to 60 no problem, it does 62 in 2nd as does the valver but the power feels as if it trails off and a better 0-60 time is achived by getting into 3rd round about 50. However, where as the valver hits 90 in 3rd the Cordy does 105 / 110 which is where it would claw back a few feet from the standard 19. However, you'd have to do this on a track to find out of course - but I think the valver would win.

Overall? Well, I like the Cordoba - its reasuringly fun to drive it a bit more "grown up and sensible" compared to the valver. It certainly doesn't attract as much attention - while I've never seen a Seat Cordoba SX roudn these parts it does look just like an Ibiza MK2 from the front while the Valver used to gain admiring / unapproving "whats the vent there for" looks from everyone I passed, more-so the blue one in York then the Black one did in Manchester.

I'd have another Valver - defintly - but maybe as a second car. I haven't got the time, tools or space at the moment to afford to run one and I need a reliable car to get me to Work / Uni etc. I sill find myself browsing the free adds / ebay / autotrader looking at 19 16v's so who knows I might get another one sooner then you think. Maybe I'll keep the Cordoba standard and have a valver to play with. Hmmm, tempting.

So anyway, here is a few pics of the cordy, need to get the Alloys recond and maybe get some half leather. Chip? Filter? Zaust? Maybe. We'll see Smile

Still if your happy I suppose.

Valver would beat it right up to 140 odd. I beat a cupra type R up to the limiter. Rolling start from 80.

Who knows...

I don't think road races mean anything, I've beaten a standard Clio 16v in it after 60 - I know the lad driving and he was trying, it was close but I managed to pull away (dual carageway, lane each) but I'm a better driven then he is.

I've owned 3 R19's in my 3 years of driving, so its time for a change. I can always sell it and get something else if I get bored Smile

Personally, I don't think the pictures for the cordy really do it justice, quite frankly it does look a bit bland in pictures, but up close it's quite a decent smart lookinging car; I'm not saying i'd ever consider buying one, and I still think a valver looks better, but I guess it's one of those things that just needs to grow on you, like the chammy..

yeah i like them, i think if you do what you say alloys, lower and exhaust it would look vnice. i would get the side skirts and back bumper colour coded, and clear side repeaters, and get rid of the sx badge on the front and mesh the grill maybe.
looks good tho

Already got some clear side repeators on there, rite now I'm going to concentrate on working my 65hrs Monday - Fridays and getting some cash saved up! Smile

i saw a nice subtley done up cordoba in the car park at the formula student competiton this weekend...looked very very nice indeed.
